Martha Hunt Did Her Engagement Ring the Classical Way , News 169

Holidays this year proved extra special for Martha Hunt, who following the lead of Emma Stone and Frieda Pinto hopped into the wedding wagon. The Victoria’s Secret model revealed early this year that she and Jason MacDonald, her photographer boyfriend are now engaged. Flaunting a luxuriant diamond ring, the model, 30, made the announcement on Instagram.

The ring, a gold band and diamond center stone garnered a lot of attention across the Internet. The band is skinny, a classic bling band, but what makes the ring outstanding is its adornment, a lovely 3 carat diamond. The diamond appears to be a cushion-cut. Although the center stone steals all the show, it is not a solitaire. Nestled on the
either sides are tapered baguettes that accent the center stone.

A lot of experts have taken a shot at guessing the size of the diamond and the worth of the ring. While most agreed it’s a 3 carat stone or thereabouts, the worth remains undetermined, but experts are pretty confident that it’s six figure. Gemologists believe that the price of the ring should be something in the neighborhood of $75, 000.
That figure has however been challenged by Mary Frances Joseph from Shane Co. An expert in gems and jewelry, Joseph thinks the ring to be more than that. Her guestimates however diverted a little from that of the others. She believes the ring to be yellow gold feature, the solitaire diamond it is mounted with a cushion-cut and its size 4 carats.  According to her, the ring is set in a yellow gold setting of vintage décor. She agreed that the side stones are tapered baguette. However, Joseph’s estimate of the rings worth is $100, 000.
Whatever the precise cost is, it is safe to say that the ring is a pretty expensive one. It appears that her fiancé has spared no cost in obtaining the best ring he could find. Hunt admitted in an interview that her fiancé “has great taste in jewelry”, referring to a jewelry he gave her as a gift. It was a gold cuff, a 19
th century vintage one.

Judging by his choice of engagement ring, it seems that Hunt was right to think that. Cushion cut is trending right now. It has been endorsed by the likes of Heidi Klum and Hillary Duff in the recent years. So, although he went for a classical setting, his choice of diamond cut was on-trend.
