Chinese Police Arrest Suspect in Diamond Jewelry Theft
Chinese police in the eastern Zheijang province announced that they have captured a suspect in the theft of over 4 million yuan ($539,000) and 25 kilos of gold, diamonds and jade.
The suspect, Wang Zhengran, was caught Sunday in the southern city of Guangzhou, the People’s Daily Online reported. Police said that they found in his apartment and in another house approximately 1,000 stolen gems, worth about 2 million yuan ($269.000).
The theft was reported on January 16 by a jewelry shop in the city of Dongyang, in the Zhejiang province. The investigation is ongoing.
