We’re now well into 2009 and the recent trend of people getting excited about and suppliers eager to supply
replicas of famous engagemnet rings.  So I thought I’d sober up the web and let you all know about the
history of famous engagement rings.

In 1447 Maximillan I of Austria proposed to and gave the first diamond engagement ring on record to his wife to be, Mary of Burgundy.  The engagement ring he had designed was commissioned with the simple purpose in mind to unite their two family houses and symbolize their marriage a unifying event for the country.

In 1518, the smallest ever diamond engagement ring was designed and given to Princess Mary who then many years later married to the Dauphin of France. Princess Mary was only two years old at the time the ring was given.  Strange but true!

Throughout the history of marriages and jewelry there are many stories of expensive and celebrity diamond
engagement rings.  Over the time, these engagement rings have become bigger, more lavish and often include a significant range of variety of other gems and precious metals.

So, if your looking to emulate your idol and want to buy a replica famous engagement ring, firstly make sure
you know the background to the story else your notion of romance could end up with an embarassing twist.

If you looking to buy a loose diamond then take this simple advice from us today.  Ensure you purchase the best quality diamond you can afford.  That is point 1, it’s simple and straight forward.  Don’t regret in years to come that you should have spent that little bit more.

Second important point, don’t buy loose diamonds just because they’re on some amazing discount. Most of the time these special offers are little more than sales messaging and in the end rarely result in real
benefits. Bear in mind that diamond prices are measured and controlled by international market climates such as demand and supply.

Do not confuse a diamonds carat weight with the size of a diamond. Even though two diamonds may have the same carat weight their appearance in size and diameter measurements can very greatly. A poorly cut 1.00ct

diamond may look like a 0.75ct diamond from the top because they have the same diameter measurements even though their carat weights are different.

If you’re buying a loose diamond for an engagement ring is can be a scary activity since there’s thousands of jewelers, dealers and especially a huge number (and growing every day) of online diamond stores.  Search
the web for all the information you need to be best informed about what you want to buy and what you should expect for the money your going to invest. This is probably one of the most important thought processes and actions you should make before you make the big step of buying a loose diamond.

I just had to write about this, not because we at Diamonds-USA are selling them, because we’re not. I’m also not writing about this because I think its a diamond worth proposing with (heaven forbid). I’m writing because I hope someone out there in my circle of life will read this and buy me one.

If you’re looking for a new and different USB drive that has bling bling and than a simple black or silver flash drive can deliver Philips & Swarovski have built a flash drive to remember. The diamond ring itself is connected by a slot to the flash drive component. There are a complete range of flash drive sizes available as there is a wide range of Swaroski flash drive designs available.

Quite simply the coolest USB device for anyone with a passion for diamonds.

Topical issues always interest us here at Diamonds-USA, as does finding new and innovative reasons to produce new and exciting pieces of jewelry.  Whilst researching for some ideas for a new range of mens engagement rings I came accross an interesting opinion piece about just that.  Should gay men enter the fray of excitment about giving and receiving diamond engagement rings.

If your interested in the topic, then I urge you to read this article and make up your own mind.  Personally, I think there’s nothing more stunning and significant than attaching a thing of eternal beauty, made of one of the toughest materials on the planet, to a wedding and marriage that should promote those exact characteristics.

In short, a gay marriage without a diamond is like a wedding dress withouth shoes

It’s the year 2009 and we’re now in an age where same-sex commitment celebrations have become natural in many socienties. Diamonds are a symbol of love and commitment all over the world in every culture, so lets not create new barriers to acceptance. This is just my opinion, but if something brings you joy and is entirely appropriate for an occasion, then heck, go for it and make your day as special as it can and should be.

Last month, it was Oscar time yet again. The one night in the year where celebrities never wear their own clothes, instead being fought over by some of the worlds leading designers who literally pay to give their clothes away in the hope of a photo opportunity with a big name celebrity. Alongside the stunning gowns, shoes and accesories, journalists always look out for the most sparkling, expensive and outragous jewelry.

This year was no different, our winner of the night was an incredible rough and polished diamond sautoir necklace designed by L’Wren Scott and worn by Nicole Kidman.

The wonderful piece of jewelty was worn throughout the evening by Kidman as she was one of the leading event hosts for the night. The necklace contained over 7500 gems (7645 to be precise) including a range of rough, faceted, and polished diamonds. The creator estimated the total weight of the diamonds was just under an amazing 1400 carats. The incredible design and structure needed over 6200 man hours to complete.

What can we say apart from lucky lucky Nicole. However I’m sure she was heartbroken enough (and so  punished enough) to have to hand back the necklace at the end of the evening.

The world of Jewelry Manufacturing is right now entering a phase of evolution, the old arts of sketching, modeling, reviewing and restarting that long time consuming process until satisfaction are disappearing.

For years already the designers of most of our jewelry have called upon the power of CAD based computer  systems to  quickly sketch 3d models of new classic and modern designs.  This takes place before the time and budget consuming process of 3d modeling to see how it would look in reality.  At that point an approval can be secured and the item can go into full jewelry production.

Today the world of technology has taken strides in the development of 3D Printing for Jewelry Manufacturing.   Companies such as Object Geometries have produced a desktop 3D printer solution that offers an exclusive combination of high-quality, finely detailed models in a compact, office friendly system.

Based on proven technologies and compounds, the PolyJet™ Photopolymer Jetting technology, creates true-to life parts of any kind with extreme accuracy in a matter of minutes.  No need to send CAD sketches away and wait weeks for a 3d model to be returned (at great expense).  Now 3d Print Modeling is as easy as paper printing!

You’re reading this if you’ve just bought, been given or simply suspect that a diamond you own may not be real.  The problem with diamonds (and their high value) is that it takes a trained eye to spot a fake, but only  devious mind to sell one.

So we’re outlining some quick and easy tips so you can check your stone is real.  You can also apply these tips before you buy to safe guard your essential purchase. Today, there are some diamonds that are created in a a  lab-created or synthetic (including cubic zircona) these stones are “real” but are not real “diamonds”. These stones will cost you much less than that of a true diamond.  They are often stunning, sharing many of the same characteristics as real diamonds.  They may be chemically the same as “true” diamonds.

To be sure, there is no way to be 100% confident that a diamond is real without a recognized certificate. So before you buy, ensure your diamond is supplied with one.
Some quick tips to check the authenticity of a diamond

* take the stone for an appraisal, expect to pay $50

* Diamonds WILL scratch glass, some fake one’s also do, but this is a good quick test

* Most fake diamonds CANNOT scratch sandpaper.
